Goodbye sweet girl

Our sweet little Budette has passed.  We found her this morning in the sheltered box that she would nap in after her late night visits.

Visiting while I stitched outside

Coming out to grab some food from the boys

Bringing the kids for snacks and a visit

 Her last litter
She was small, docile, gentle, not at all like any raccoon we've encountered.  She was here for a number of years, we can remember back to 2009, a very long life for a wild coon.  We will miss her every evening.

I know that Budette was like a pet to you and Mark. I know how heart breaking it is to lose a pet, Marly. She was such a blessed little girl raccoon to have had a home and good food at your home. The picture of her babies is adorable. It is good that she passed in a place where you could find her..
Bless your heart and Mark's too, for being such caring folks to God's creatures AND your fellow "folks".
Warm hugs, Charlotte in Va.

Sad, but what memories. She must have gone to her safe place to die, a comfort for her. A small comfort for you to have found her and not have to agonize as to what had happened. Great photos.

Oh Marly, what a life she had! The last picture is so cute and reminds me of the PBS nature documentary 'racoon nation'. It was one of my all time favorites (on YouTube if anyone hasn't seen it).

Sorry to hear about your raccoon. My SIL rescued 3 babies a couple summers ago after their mother was hit on the highway. Two of the babies still come to her back door in the evening.

People are so mean to raccoons and possums. It is so nice to see someone actually care for them. most don;t even care when they hit them with a car. Is it any wonder they are wary of us. We share this earth, we don't own it.

Condolences Marly. Raccoons are so adorable. Thank you for being so kind to Budette.

Oh this is just so sad - my heart hurts for wild animals especially because they have no way of getting help when they are hurt or sick...but I guess God has made them the way He wants them and they take care of themselves but YOU took as good a care as you were able...feeding her, talking to her and letting her know there was a safe haven until her end.
Bless you for doing this
Hugs
Karen

So sad. What a sweet little girl. Glad she came home to her little bed. She probably just laid down, went to sleep, and went to Heaven, instead of waking up on Earth again. You took care of her well. She was a lucky , loved little raccoon. Thank you for your care of God's little animals.
