Hello people. Just want to share what put a smile on my face today. On our way back home after grabbing a pizza, I was doing my usual sucking air white knuckle dashboard grab. A car at the corner was sliding through the stop sign as we were approaching. But all of a sudden my husband yells OH NO and turns our car into a little parking lot in the residential area of very close houses. I thought - did we hit the other car and I didn't feel it? Nope. He spotted a turtle. He jumps out and runs down the middle of the road, scoops up a turtle almost the size of my hand. He asked the people sitting on their porch if they knew of any kids having turtles - nope. So he brings him to me. I put the pizza boxes on the floor and held on to the turtle. I had no idea how long and sharp their claws were. Yikes. He was fighting me all the way and I thought his head was going to twist off. Strong legs and sharp claws, but Mark didn't want him to get run over. Besides, there was nothing but house after house and paved streets. Not a happy place for a turtle. Probably a pet someone tired of and discarded. He continued fighting me, scratching with his legs outstretched and whipping that scrawny neck around. Then I see his tail. How cute! Skinny, long, pointed, outlined in yellow. As I'm studying it, I see things falling from beneath it.

What an experience! You and your husband have such kind hearts. You really did miss your calling~you need to be a writer. Sandra
I can't believe the cruelty of many people, particularly toward innocent animals. Your poor swans. Such regal creatures. I have to believe that Karma finds a way to level the playing field with natures creatures. Pee-Pee the turtle is likely very grateful and you will be rewarded somewhere along the line.
That was awesome ! I saved a seagull once. I saw it get tumbled under a car. Lol crazy as I am , I stopped traffic , I was alone , so I put it in the front seat next to me ..... And believe it or not it just sat there. I drove to the nearest veterinarian . They examined it and said it was just stunned and was fine. To take it home keep it over night in a box , and to set it free the next day ! I could not believe how well behaved this large bird was. I think he knew I was helping him. Next day I drove to the beach. And set it free. Into the water he went content as could be. I know most people think I'm a little crazy to do this. But I respect life , and I believe good deeds come back to you in some way. Sounds like some good luck coming your way soon.
Mark and Marly to the rescue again and again.. I can just imagine how grateful the poor turtle is to you for saving it's life.
My son and I rescued a bigger turtle and took it to the historic Stone Bridge (Bull Run flows under it) close to us in Manassas.. We put the turtle in the water....it swam away from us....turned around...came back to the bank......looked up at us.....blew a few bubbles and then swam away..
You're funny giving the "turtle droppings" pizza to your sister..
So sorry to hear about the second set of swans being killed. Some people are so cold hearted and cruel when it comes to animals.
Take care and have a happy weekend.

Will the turtle survive in the pond when its cold in the winter?
I don't think it would here in our country.
When I was a young girl my brother came home one day from a trip with his ship and brought us two little turtles. We had them for a long time. But they were not water turtles.
Love the picture of you with the hairclip in your last post.
Have a good weekend and take care

Sounds like a slider turtle. They go dormant in the winter so will be fine. We rescued one in a parking lot years ago. He was the size of a fifty cent piece no turtles or water around so we took him home and kept him. He is called Humphrey and is now bigger than my hand. He lives in a large aqquarium in our family room
You and your husband are truly the best! I never understand people who hit animals when it can be avoided. Poor swans.

Oh Marly, how many times of late I have said the same, I hate people! And every time due to the actions towards an animal.
But I do wish to say love you and Mark!!! Keep up the great work and heartfelt thanks for sharing with us all, Debbie in IL
You and your husband are truly the best...and so kind hearted,,
love you x
Good for you guys! Hope the turtle pee comes out.
Ha! Two years ago Emerson and I were coming home on a busy road and I spotted a turtle crossing the road. I made a quick U-turn, he hopped out and went down the embankment to the creek the turtle was headed for. I don't understand why more people are NOT more caring. So easy. Only took a few minutes. And I am confident Emerson will always have compassion for animals along the way.
Haa! You guys are funny! Scott and I saw a sign that said turtle crossing but I couldn't tell you where since I've been so many places lately. People do suck -almost always.

I see that your husband is like you -- you're both kind hearted and wonderful. Thanks for the story -- loved it. Hope the poop/pee comes out!
Thank you for saving the turtle! Sorry about the seat though! I really don't understand people who can be so cruel to living creatures.

Well done you for caring and taking time to help this little one. People are so unfeeling when it comes to animals sometimes - I just don't understand why.
Marly, Blessings to you and Mark for being so kind. Have a nice day. SAH
You's are "turtle angels". Poor swans. They are so beautiful. I pass a lake on my way to work (I work two days a week) and the highlight of my day is seeing the four swans that live there. Its a mom, dad and two kids. They are so beautiful swimming in the water. Theresa
I'm so glad you & your husband saved the turtle. So sad that swans were hit.
You guys are the best!! We always try to stop and help wildlife!
Good for you guys! Hope the stain comes out too!
