Moving on

Hello people.  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  We were talking about family and WWII and after checking online about Mark's uncle, who has an Army Reserve Center bearing his name, we found that he was awarded the second highest honor, the Distinguished Service Cross.  Why didn't we know this?  And where is the medal?  There is no one remaining from Mark's family and we have some paperwork, but no medal.  Needless to say, we are pretty upset, but not surprised at anything that his stepmonsters may have done.

We've been enjoying very warm and sunny days.  The garden is in, the Enforcer is working, the flowers are in permanent positions.

Still playing with color on the PS project.  Since I love the grape colors, what am I doing?  Well, the project was lying on the bench and as I glanced at it, the grapes were just a blob of color, not defined.  On the light fabric, the grapes are obvious and very defined, but dark on dark doesn't allow that.

So I tried lighter thread, again, which did define the grape clusters a little more.  The darker grapes are somewhat lighter and brighter than shown in this poorly lit photo.  Now I have to decide if I prefer the rich color or the definition.  Moving on to stitch the roof seems logical.  That darkness in the center may make a difference in the look and change the way I see it.  I wonder how many tries before I get that one right.

I rearranged the pantry over the weekend.  We now have, in order,

Friskies Surf 'n Turf
Fancy Feast Filet Mignon
Fancy Feast Chicken & Turkey
Whiskas Meaty Selections
Cat Chow Complete
Meow Mix Seafood
Extra Surf 'n Turf

As for the wet food, which I needed every evening to lure them into the garage, they expect it now.  But they LOVE it only one time and then all the other cans are donated.  The ones they seem to prefer are all chunky with gravy, but they refuse to eat chunks so I finely chop until my arm is numb.  There is a very small food chopper at Walmart that I will purchase just for turning those damn chunks into paté.  With all the cats I know, have interviewed, had for dinner, are living with relatives, none like the bits, chunks, flakes, shreds.  Yet Missy enjoys the non-paté chipmunk head while Nitzy chomps on blue-jay skulls.  Stupid cats.

Have a good one.

Thanks for visiting.

Geez...I'm glad our feral cats can't read...LOL!! They get the dry cat food my husband puts out in the back yard for them twice a day and that's it! You're too hard on yourself...your stitching is beautiful and I think the grapes look good....I used your idea for the bag on the front door with the AMerican flag and it looks so cute! Great for the summer holiday!

I hope that some how, some way Mark's father's medal will be found.
It looks and sounds like you are operating a restaurant for your kitties. They are soo blessed ! It's strictly Fancy Feast Medleys here with white meat chicken florentine with garden greens in a delicate sauce being the favorite. Oh and the Temptations chicken flavored treats costing $8.00 a box. I think these cats need to get a job !
You are brave to stitch on the dark linen. I know your finished piece will be outstanding.

If you contact your local councilmen, I believe they can help you secure that medal...

I like the lighter color grapes, the leaves are super. The Army can help with information. I do not know who but you state rep/senator can help I am sure just email them. They can at least start the ball rolling or point you in correct direction.

OH Yuk, Chipmunk heads and Blu Jay skulls...those silly cats. They don't know how well off they really are.
For those yummy grapes, can you use the darker for shaded side and lighter for hi lite side? A little of both? No matter I think it will be beautiful...it is already on its way.

What a shame that you had no knowledge of Mark's uncle's medal before, Marly. I really hope there is some way to track it down...

Your feral cats have a real fairy godmother in you! Just look at those fancy eats... That is one impressive line-up of feline food :)

I know what you mean about the cats! It is like a husband I had that only ate a total of about 5 things. Meat, plain lettuce, grated cheese, bacon bits, and Doritos. Oh and bananas on vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. Nothing else. Guess that's six. I was glad when he left. Not that you'll be glad if the cats left! Just saying how testy some people/cats can be! Like the grapes on the left. It gives the looks some zing. Not that you need zing or anything. You look like you have a lot of that! Ha!

I can understand you being upset about the medal. Hopefully, there is some way to find out what happened to it. Those cats don't know how good they have it. : ) I know that all of the cats that show up at my mother's house love the gravy that comes in some of the food but leave the chunks, flakes, etc.

My father's medals are precious to us; I hope you can find Mark's dad's medal. I like both sets of grapes!

Hi Marly, I apologise profusely for not stopping by for a visit for a while. Lovely stitching and yes, those cats can be such fussy eaters! Mine do love chicken necks, though - no chopping required.

Love your purple colors...

Ah cats. Ours are always saying I love this! and then not eating it the next time.

I like how the lighter grapes show up better. Have you considered making the contrasting (single?) stitch in each grape darker - your rich color - rather than lighter?

Marly: How about you ask them if they have the medal because you are doing a Family book and need it for pictures, maybe they will give it up. (I hope so).
I like the grape color you chose, I am like you I change colors often.
I would do like you with the cats but we live in a small town and cannot feed outdoor feral cats, it breaks my heart.

Blessings
