Once again, I am shortening the design. I wasn't planning to, but once I saw how striking these two figures are on this linen, I didn't want anything else to take away from that. It would still be a great piece with the top motifs but I am liking it just as it is.
I thought a type of wallet or purse would be great for a finish, but that's a lot of work without a pattern. A needlebook is perfect. But that isn't as visible and mostly displayed in one area. I like this enough to want to see it often and move it easily so a hanging accent fits the bill. Framing in a 4x6 works too, but then I leave a hole in the wall every time I change its position. One thing I would have done differently if I had known the finish .... make both figures the same height. Other than that, love love love. The blue fabric will be the back.
I am so glad I finally got the hang of blocks of stitches. My older pieces that had houses or lawns, anything solid, looked striped. The tension (or maybe the sewing method) created striations that were obvious.
Once I started doing the first half of the stitch from side to side until the area was filled, and then crossed the second half in rows running top to bottom, it made a big difference.

Bud agrees.
The doc said xrays show no break. I have a bad sprain on the right ankle and the left foot. There is one spot that is very painful to touch and with this amount of swelling and sudden sharp pains, I thought it was broken. I wish the swelling would go away - can't wear my sandals.
Hopefully will be painting boxes and making a few corner squares today. But it's nice outside and Mark is golfing, I'll probably have my butt on the swing enjoying some solitude.
Thanks for visiting.

I like the pair of ladies your way, Marly. They look very striking on your fabric. Enjoy your swing time!
Love your girls (and their pet dog/cat)!
Glad to hear the scans showed nothing broken. That outdoor swing sound lovely!
I love your finish, Marley! I stitche this years ago on a tan colored fabric but I really LOVE it stitched on the dark fabric. Can't wait to see your finish. I hope your foot and ankle feel better, soon.
Your girls are so sweet! Hope your foot and ankle heal quickly so you can wear your sandles. Hugs to you, Kelley S.
I'm going to quit complaining about my hand - your foot and ankle are so much worse! Love the blue, and really, just love the whole piece. blessings, marlene
I am a bit confused (as usual!). You want the arms to have a tiny space between the rows or your new method of stitching blocks will alleviated that?
Love your new piece and colors.
Hope the pain will disapear very soon. Your swing sound good to me with this warm weather.
Take care Marly.
Greetings Truus from Holland
OUCH!!! Bad sprains are so painful. Please relax and heal.
Good call on the stitching, lovely finish.
Hey Bud!
LOVE the stitching, colors and your idea for the finish....thanks for sharing. Feel better and relax and enjoy the sun.
love that picture - it is fantastic on the dark fabric! Hope your ankle heals quickly!
I am really liking the darker linens. Love your stitching too. Happy for you...NO break. I need to do some stitching..been getting rid of 'Excess baggage'...Planning on moving down to Temecula/Hemet to be closer to our three munchkins and Jeff & Cassie too. They are growing up too fast and we are not spending enough time with them. Sooo, here we go again. HMMmmm, my maiden name was Wheeler...is that why we move around???? At 77 I gots to slow down and stay put...maybe this will be our final one?
Love and Blessings with Peace for ALL,
Barb
Ms. Peppercorn! That’s OK. Confused people like me confuse others. When I stitched a block before, it would look like her arms do, making the rows and direction of stitching obvious. And if I did an area in that block (like between windows on house) that was easier to go up and down instead of sideways, it always showed because the rows were going a different direction. Now when I stitch a block first side to side and then up and down to complete, you don’t see those little striations or grooves between the rows. Am I making sense?
Those colors are really pretty on that fabric! Great choices!
Hope you feel better soon!
Marly, I love the look of these two girls and think your idea of ending the design here is a great one!
There you go, sharing another great stitching tip to help us with blocks of color!! The ladies look great as they are... Hope you are resting the ankle and foot... My daughter was out walking with hubby last week, and tripped and fell... hurting her right ankle now...After finally healing from the left one being badly injured but not broken! (not to mention her knees being bruised and bleeding!!) Ai yi yi!! Big hugs!
