Simply Primitive

on Simply Red from Homespun Elegance.  But of course, it's not red as it should be.  I love the size on 35 count, perfect for hanging, simple to stitch, and primitive.  Two colors were changed from my original choices.  The numeric and additional alphabet at the bottom will be one color.  Linen is Tin Roof.

A few years ago, we waited a length of time for the best stone guy in our area to do our front steps.  As you can see today, we need someone to tear out and start over.  He doesn't do small jobs now, only large installations of patios and brick pavers, so we have no idea who to trust.  The company that shoots concrete beneath to raise walkways and landings, is uneasy about this being separate pieces so I am not wasting money there.  No one comes to the front door, but I think it should be fixed.
Jehovah Witnesses used to come to this door, but haven't been here for many years.  Before removing all the shrubs, we had two pyramid shaped evergreens, one on each side of the door.  Before I could answer the bell, I saw them leaving at a brisk pace.  Hmm.  A few days later when cutting the grass, I saw something different about the shape of those shrubs.  Further inspection showed snakes coiled around them both like Christmas tree garland.  That's the last time any religious group knocked on my door.

HOT today!  Mark is golfing.  I will play outside all day.
Have a good one!

Thanks for visiting.

How funny ! It could be a good idea for my home -to have some peace with sellers all kind and religious visits- to place a "beware of the snakes" on my fence hahaha
For the door and stones it looks great ! I don't understand very well english but if you wonder about those not being "flat" that would be easy to fix with a couple of flat stones under. But I would let them that way, it's giving the door a unique/authentic style !

I love it when I check on a weekend and you have sent out something. Such a treat with my Sunday coffee. Love your door. My sister has a saltbox on a small farm not far from me. She got a lot of her furnishings near you from New Willmington. Forget the name but the furniture store was owned by two women at that time. I got my 13 star flag like yours there. xo

I wonder if the Amish in your area have a man who could fix your stone steps?

Yikes snakes at any door--I too would have making a hasty retreat! Finding reputable repairman is a huge challenge.

Love the sampler. HATE snakes!!!! I do love the stones as they are and they are perfect for the home style. It's hard to find help that understands what you're trying to achieve if it's not a contemporary clean shiny new look. Glad to see you got rid of the trees on both sides. I would have freaked out on that one. We only have tiny harmless snakes here and I still do the dance of fear when I see them which is maybe once every few years. You are much braver than I for sure.
