Now where the hell do I put the rest? So far, two rooms are packed with wall items, samplers, wood pieces, tables. I would like to do some consignment at the only shop near here but she doesn't want primitive pieces. It will be a long process to determine what stays and what goes. I wonder how much will be stored in the attic or actually let go.
My view from the kitchen. I am still surprised at the change in the room and don't even want to add wainscot now. The trim will all be painted very light as the sample areas show. Maybe that will be too boring. Maybe some color is needed when the room has less, but I'm trying it anyway. To me, this same room setting would look bare or unfinished without the beams. Crown moulding would help a sparse room too but I didn't want that look for this room. Not sure what will end up in the room, but right now it's half of what it was. Our kitchen is open to the family room on the left, and this room is on the right. They could easily be switched and I may do that for seasons.
Mike said he will come back to do other simple finishing work for us so I was relieved to hear that. Dominic should have the cabinets next week and we'll take it from there.
I got my XL tops, a long way from the small I used to wear. The downside to having the looser fit, is losing the incentive to diet. I fight it, but when I am forced to move up a size and I have things to wear, the urgency is lessened. But just because it fits, doesn't mean I'm any smaller.

The room is beautiful, put the thinks you love in it and you will never get tired of it. It's your room, whatever makes you smile and happy that is what you should go with. Samplers and primitives make good friends.

Marly that looks so beautiful. The beams are a wonderful element. I was going to say what others already did.....at least for now add in color with your accessories. That way you can live with it awhile, change colors out for the seasons and just enjoy the calming feel you have achieved in there. So pretty!

You lightened my day! I too used to be a small and now I'm an XL...people don't believe me what with my goiter neck and puffy cheeks and I hate to drag out pictures! LOL!
I am turning 70 in January and the doc told me to diet....I almost told him to you know what! I have a neighbor who is dieting at age 80 something....really? I eat healthy and nothing processed and I cook from scratch....my mother was about 84 pounds when she got ill and they couldn't operate because she was so tiny they didn't think she'd make it. So, I think it is better to have a few extra pounds so if you do get hospitalized they have something to work with! LOL! That's my story an dI'm sticking to it. I am de-cluttering but this may take me the rest of my life! Yours look great! I could clean that room is 15 minutes! Here...not so much but it is getting much better. Congratulations to you!

Marly...I'm doing the exact same thing....I have stuff packed in my basement and in some of my cupboards. I was getting to feel overwhelmed....plus,, I hate having to move all of it just to clean. I've been selling some items and some items I've just been giving away. I have several large pieces of furniture that need to go as well....but that's for another day. I love the look of your room and really think its shows the beauty of your furniture... your beams are gorgeous!!
Marly, from an interior designer who loves true colonial and early primitive settings,I think you are beginning to achieve the look you want. Adding the waiacotting, along with the beams will complete the foundation for the room, and then you are ready to add back the few pieces needed to give the room life. It will be an edited look with just the wonderful things you love. Looking forward to seeing the end result!

You are such a good cook and have so many sweet teeth (just like me, except for my cooking). My WW daughter has gained nineteen lbs. since Jan. and is so upset. She can't figure out what has happened.
I'm 77 and have lost weight due to stress. That happens every time something stressful is going on in my life.
I do most of the grass cutting and yard work, so I guess that helps with the weight loss too.
I, too, think if you add some samplers to your walls, that would add just the right amount of color.
I wish you lived closer.......the consignment store, that I take things to, wants primitive.

This is a definite WOW! When we sold our last house & I stripped it down for selling, I was amazed that I actually liked it better. You have selected a beautiful design. Love the view from the kitchen!
Perfect just the way it is, wow . I agree no need for wainscoting. I know decluttering is the answer but you are correct who wants the stuff?
Forgot to say , you do need some of your samplers on the walls.
Love the look but I agree with the others that some of your samplers would be wonderful. We have always had chair rail in our dining room but I am having it taken down in this redo - hoping it will give the room a larger feel - that is if the interior designer ever gets back with me :-(
