SALLY!!

Just posted this on Instagram.  Finally done with mounting except for a few tweaks.  The forced smile on pumpkin man (16" tall) is how I feel.   The 28 count showed the shiny white foam beneath and the edges look like they are ready to rip.  This linen had wimpy threads and I am sorry it's what I used.  The brown paper liner was needed but is free so if I change my mind before framing, I can pull it out.

Posting from a tablet is no easier!

Enjoy your weekend.

That really is a pretty sampler! Live with it awhile and see if the holes still bother you. That's what I try to do. Sometimes they bother me more then I know I have to do something. But sometimes they bother me less!

I've had trouble with the white foam core showing through as well. I have used off white or cream colored cotton underneath my stitching. It really makes your stitching pop. It's an extra step but worth it in my opinion. The Twisted Stitcher gives really good helpful hints on finishing our pieces. Your sampler is beautiful, Marly!! The little pumpkin man is sweet! Have a good day!

Evenstitcher has good advice. I've seen samplers stitched onto other linen to very good effect. It gives the effect of a mat, and takes the pressure of stretching off the piece. Darleen O'Steen used to do that a lot. She'd even add a bit of a fancy hem stitch when she turned her sampler under to hem it to add to the mat effect.

Marly: It seems some fabric had gotten so flimsy that everything shows through the back, I do use iron on interfacing on some of my stitching, this helps to not see the foam core board.
I love the pumpkin man.
Have a great week

Yup....pumpkin man is how I feel as well....and some days it's getting even difficult to do the forced smile. Love this sampler....wow....guess I didn't realize how large it was until you said how tall pumpkin man is. Yikes. I still admire you for mounting your own pieces....I am too chicken. (But, hey....I'm no where NEAR as prolific as you, so I don't mind paying someone else to do it on the rare occasion I stitch a piece in need of framing LOL. Hope you had a good weekend.... ~Robin~

The expression on Mr. Pumpkin Man's face perfectly expresses my own feelings
