Error check

Hiya.  Good grief we are halfway through July.

Stitching has been slow, the black thread is difficult to see once crossed, an individual stitch is not distinguishable.  Errors are more difficult to catch because of this, so I went back to my old method.

I thought the linen was 46, it is not.  My cataract must be progressing more quickly because this 40 count is not fun at all.

Outlining the design and checking for placement is necessary with the sight issues or there will be enough errors to cause a search for matches.  The first leg of the stitch is enough to find errors and also much easier to remove when found.  Turning the piece over reveals errors quickly because of the thread being straight rather than slanted.  Second from left is obvious on back, not front.

I need to choose another project and hope to do that today.  I need a break from the black fill.

Hope your weekend goes well.  I'll explain and update the cat rescue story when it's over.  As of yesterday, it may be whether all saved or not.

Oh I hope all were saved. Our Shadow kiity was a wild rescue kitten when my co-worker found him and we took him in. I hate doing black stitches myself so I understand. Janice

Hello Marly: I do like this design, it is so cute, but if I were to do it I positively would need a lite under the design to see the stitches' but that is just me.
You are very much like me I love cats, any and all even the mean ones in our neighborhood.
I hope you do not give up on this design, it is raining here with temps in the 80s, so humid and warm, but I am a warm weather girl.

Your issues with the stitching are exactly why I have not done Spot the Horse...too much black stitching does not a happy person make.

I admire how clever you are - and persistent - in finding accommodations to your sight issues. I am currently working on an all black piece that would likely give you fits. This is my second start on it as I had the first go-round nearly 1/3rd done and realized I had started in the wrong place (it's on printed linen so there was no living with it. Too much to rip out so I broke down and bought another piece of linen (long story on the why behind all this) and I am at a point now where I just want it done and over with. Praying for the kitties. ~Robin~

I remain in awe of your tenacity....Once this one is finished, you owe yourself a pat on the back and whatever high-calorie treat your heart desires.
Bless you for your dedication to resolving the cat situation. Hope you are
keeping cool...

Hi Marty,

I have a myriad of health issues affecting my eyesight that was limiting my stitching in general (RA/TMJ/severe migraines/2 different medications causing me to lose my right eyesight). I found a magnifying glass on Amazon that has a stand with it and a clip to hold it with that is adjustable for the height and angle. It's 30x with a 60x inset. As soon as I took it out of the box and looked through it, the without having to use my glasses & readers at the same time like I normally have to to stitch, I could easily see the holes in the fabric! It is a game changer - I have no affiliation with the brand or Amazon. My mom and sister also have Sjogren's and I may get it yet - I am just looking for solutions that might help prolong my stitching time. If you do a search on Amazon for CENWOPAL 30x/60x magnifying glass, you can see a.couple of videos about it. Just thought I'd share.

Hope all works out the other the cats.

You're moving right along in Spot, thanks for the tip about looking at the back to check for errors before doing the stitches in the other direction. Especially if using black threads that blend & blur together in the finished stitch.

Oh Dear, why do I think you've been dealing with lots more drama surrounding the cat situation than you've been letting on?!
