Budman

Good morning.  Mr. Bud's fever was close to 106 which is pretty high.  I could tell when I picked him out of the ivy that his body was very warm. Nitzy and Missy stayed by him all morning which is unusual so I knew it was serious.  Average normal for a cat is 101.5 and fevers slow the growth of bacteria and stimulate the immune system, but this high is not good.   He's very listless and dehydrated, not having fluids or food for two days.  Doc (who is in his 80's) gave him 2 injections and liquid meds.  Needless to mention, Bud does not like the taste, and wants to go outside.  I'm keeping him in until there is improvement and water intake.  I let Missy come in to keep him company when we came home and she jumped the barrier and took off upstairs.  I had to let her out a different door so Bud wouldn't escape and carried her to it.  She tore up my left wrist and palm AND ripped a hole in my new shirt!!  There isn't enough skin at her scruff to hold so she is a terror when handled.
This morning, no change. He still feels very warm.  Nitzy is in here with him but Bud doesn't seem to care.  I'm hoping sure the antibiotics will kick in by this evening and tomorrow he will start taking water and food.  At least that's what the vet said.  Most around here don't want to treat feral cats so I'm very grateful to his office.  After looking up the medication, it doesn't seem to be correct for a respiratory infection (he heard rattling in the lungs) but we don't have a choice.
No errands today and certainly no painting.  Bud's hair is floating everywhere and also stuck to my sweaty flashing body.
We are Labrador and Retriever folks, never considered having felines, but Mark has developed a bond with his Budman. Thanks for your concern and well wishes - I'll post when there's improvement.
I've decided to spend more than her car is worth and have sis's car fixed.  We can't be rushed into making a decision on our new car especially when the models we are interested in are a 40 minute drive from here so she will have to wait for Mark's.  It may be stupid and a waste of money, but I have to start clearing my plate of things that need done.  She saw my chiropractor yesterday because of neck problems from the accident, and when he dropped the bottom half of the table to stretch her back, her rib broke.  I think I'm baking dark chocolate cupcakes with whipped cream frosting today.

Hope your day is just as sweet.

The Budman is sick

Yes I'm taking a break from blogging - just a few snaps and tidbits now and then.
My Bud who never leaves the back deck was missing yesterday.  This morning he was in his condo but wouldn't eat or drink.  Then - gone.  I found him lying in the woods (in poison ivy of course) and brought him into the house.  He fought a little but I was able to carry him.  We're borrowing a carrier and taking him to a vet later and they are OK with him being on the wild side.  I know the neighbors didn't have anything to do with this because he is not the roamer like the other two and they are fine.  The fusspots will only eat certain expensive brands of food so I know they wouldn't go for the poison they have been putting out for "filthy critters".  He'll probably get an antibiotic shot and pills which will be a joy to shove down his throat.

Here's Barbara progress from my stiff sanding hand.  Her name is over one and once that is completed, only two more lines and the border.

Later.

Rung hung

Hiya.  Bought an old small ladder at the antique mart to hang towels in the bath.

Hmm.  Is hub's grandfather's handmade still in the attic?  Yep.  Wonky and twisted.  Sure is tall.

What can I hang on the rungs?
Enjoy your weekend!

Memorial Day

Hi.  Please visit 2012's post here for my tribute to our enlisted we have lost from decades ago to present day. They gave everything, we can give them a day of honor and remembrance.

I'm still having problems with kitchen plans.  After finding out the Dekton countertop I planned won't work for my design, I went in to have the paint mixed only to be told Cabinet Coat can't be tinted in mid-range colors, only lights.  Four quarts of testing later, they still can't match my color.

Will be spending another day at the hospital for her second cardioversion, probably next week.  She's doing OK but needs to be out of fib because of other heart issues.
My neighbors stopped Mark to ask him about "those damn cats".  Seems they want to "take care of them" in some way because they don't want animals on their precious property.  Mark explained that they are neutered strays so there won't be any litters (and fewer mice under their decks) but they want them gone.

I started the Barbara Schlater sampler after recharting the border which is Queen stitch. It worked out pretty well with only one stitch less in height and width and I can easily make that adjustment.  I'm not even changing any colors - just don't give a bug's wing at this point.  But changing from Queen to cross was a must.

So tomorrow will be a somber day doing more outside work with my pal Advil.  I'm also going to order the range tomorrow and get another brand of paint.  If I am told it's no longer available, the paint doesn't match again, or I hear "people like you", I will emit a sound that could call in bigfoot and my rage will be sufficient to take him down.  Check your local newspapers Tuesday.
Enjoy your day ~ remember.
