Hi all. How the heck are you? I think asking if you're ready for spring would be silly.
I want to show you what I bought today.
The biggest bowl I own! This will hold a lot of stitched bowl fillers for sure. I hedged on the purchase for quite a while because it was split across the middle and glued, the lathe swirls are barely visible and worn smooth, and I wasn't sure if it was really old. I'm not knowledgeable enough to recognize an antique from a newer piece, and the look is what I'm after not authenticity, so I guess it doesn't matter. Someone used Danish oil or varnish long ago and I may sand it to a dull wood finish. I knew it was large but didn't realize until I got home just how much more than my others. It measures 17 3/4" x 17" across and 5 1/2" high. But for $37.50, not bad?????
I'm working out the bag shape for my stitchery and am considering adding some vines to create more of the shape many antique colonial bags are. But I've had enough of this piece so would prefer not to continue. Trimming the edges in wool - is there a wool tape? Do I make my own? I don't want to. I guess before this HP monster dies, I should search the web. The new laptop will be ordered tonight and I'm all backed up and ready. I insisted on Windows 7. It wasn't that long ago that I had to learn it, hated it, got used to it, and refuse to do it all again.
Time for a cup of coffee and a cookie a walk on the treadmill.
Have a great weekend - stay safe - stitch happy!
Thanks for visiting.

I'd say you got a GREAT deal on the bowl...one of my (many) weaknesses.

I really love this bowl. Perfect for small stitchery. Enjoy!!
What a great bowl. I agree, the look is what is important in something like that. Hope you enjoyed your"walk"!

Hi Marly, love your bowl. I have one the same size. I paid around $40-$45 about 3 yrs ago. I didn't realize how big it really was until I got it home! It is also my biggest bowl but looks nice with my 3 smaller ones. You got a very good deal. Enjoy your posts very much. Have a great weekend and I hope you don't get any more snow. There is a chance we might get some, I sure hope not!! I hate it! Janice in S.IL
Wonderful bowl and happy laptop shopping and treadmill walking!
What a great bowl, you will have fun filling this one hugs .
Your bowl looks great. They are so expensive here in England that I have ordered a cherrywood blank from a woodturning supply person on Ebay for £13 and am hoping to carve one (if DH will lend me his chisels, or maybe he will want to carve it, it will be fun anyway) and how primitive that bowl will be if it turns out!
What a great bowl! I hope finishing goes well for you with the horses. I am praying for you all.
Nice find in the bowl. I have seen many in antique/thrift shops but they are always so expensive.
Yes, I am ready for Spring. REALLY ready!!
I vote for the coffee and cookie but I will settle for a crust of bread with some NSA apple butter from the Amish shop. Maybe you could have the cookie after the treadmill as a reward? : )
Looks fantastic to me! Love the bowl! I do think there's wool webbing. Marsha on Scarlet letter has some hand dyed to match her pockets now. And I did a search once and came up with some place that sells it.
Really LUV the bowl. Can't wait to see it full of your many fillers.
Enjoy the weekend with much Peace,
Barb
Just love "catching up" with what's new with you. The bowl is
a winner at a great price. I can see it filled with ornamental pears ala Marly. We got the wool
webbing for our bed hangings through Williamsburg. A caveat - it is not always color fast. That
is going to be some prized purse,
Marly. Thank you for sharing the
process...Allow the cookie - you
have earned it....
Fill your beautiful bowl with cookies. I give you permission.
I love anything wooden.. I like the feel of wood in my hand. You bought your bigger bowl at a great price, They are hard to find.
Enjoy your weekend.

I also have a bowl that size that I inherited from my Mom-in-law. Mine has handles on it and it had a stand for it too. I don't know where she got it but I love it. You are lucky to find one and at such a roaring good price too! I am getting pretty excited to see that finish for the horses.Probably as excited as you are getting fed up with it.I am working on the Special delivery Santa right now and he is also taking too long and too much frogging going on with him.
Your new (old) bowl is a great find! That is great you are getting a new laptop. You will be much happier sticking with Windows 7. We have Windows 8 and it was a big difference for me to get used to. There are still a few things I haven't figured out how to do yet....
That bowl is awesome! I had to buy a new laptop last weekend. I wasn't too pleased with the choices available, but settled on one. It has Windows 8.1 and I'm slowly figuring it out. Which laptop did you order?
That bowl is pretty fabulous!
Have a great week!
