Greetings fellow menopausians, stitchers, friends, and readers. Instead of browsing the stash I chose one of the last samplers I ordered. She's not too large, simple, and monotone. Perfect for taking to the hospital without all the floss bags of colors.
Only question - should I use luscious 3857, or the gray that looks blue 413? Eliza Laidman was Uniform Blue which is just like 413 and I really love it, but would I want another the same? In a different room, yes. So I have just one decision to make and probably won't until I pull it out to start.

I put clear shipping tape over the Velcro tabs on the Magma. When I was working on Isobel's ornament, every time I needed to get into the pouch the loud noise woke him up and aggravated me. Folding the tape over to the outside works really well.
I wanted to show that ornament finish but alas, it is hiding somewhere. Isn't alas a goofy word? Anyway, I'll find it when I have time.
Have a great week!
Thanks for visiting.

I love the shade of red and the blue also. I know you love the blue, so right now, when there's stress, use the color that will make you the happiest..
I hope your nephew is feeling better, Carole too and you too.
May the week ahead prove to be a good one.

Glad you Magma is loaded and ready! I like the sampler you have chosen. Either color would look good. I don't like cutting fabric either.

I hate choosing colors, so I usually follow the colors listed with the pattern. Take now for example. I copied the little New Years pattern from Homespun elegance, I cannot choose a color....it has taken me most of an hour and still.... Hope nephew and Carole are feeling better.
Like you, I have spent Christmas between the hospital and my son's house where I'm taking care of the four little ones. Not the Christmas any of us had imagined but we are glad to be together. I have not seen a Magma before but will be googling on behalf of my husband, who needa gift ideas! None of us had time to shop this year. I wish you family, and in particular your nephew a better 2015 and full recovery.
I would use the blue as it sort of fits the period of time that the sampler was stitched. Hope all of your family and you have a less stressful and healthier new year.
That's going to be a very pretty sampler!
I have a hard time cutting linen too. I'm sure Harriet will look great in whichever color you choose, but I'm no help because I like them both.
Continued prayers for you and your family.
Beautiful sampler . . . Sending prayers and well wishes to you, your sister and nephew. SAH
Good luck with all your hospital patients this week and I hope they all fare well. I hope the new year holds great promise and better things to come for you and those you love.
I love the new sampler and whatever you choose will work out just right. Take care.
Hail to a fellow menopausian! We are a special group to be sure! Warrior-women in my mind! Love your choice of sampler. Make yourself happy and choose the linen that will give you the fewest regrets. What are you saving it for? Use it up! They make more...
I think both shades are beautiful. This looks like the perfect project for right now and all that is going on.
Keeping you in my thoughts and sending well wishes to all.
Would you ever consider using a variegated thread for a single color sampler? As for me I am partial to the blue.
As for "alas" I agree, it is a bit odd.
Hope all goes well.

Looks like your found the perfect problem to help with your stress level, Marly... It is very pretty--you know me, I love blue :)
Hoping your sister and her son are both improving day by day...
Good job on the Magma -- very clever on the tape on the velcro too. I love blue, but I also love red. I love red samplers, and tend toward blue with quilts and knitting. Funny, huh? Hope your sister and her son are recovering well.
I love the red, but think the blue would give it an older look. Hope all is well with your family.
Wishing you all a healthy, peaceful New Year!! xoxo
