Heirloom Weavers

I purchased several placemats and small squares of various colors and patterns when I saw them on sale, for this purpose.  Backings, sewing pouch, small hearts.  And after much wasted time, remembered that I had a red and taupe piece ..... some where in the house.  Found it and it's perfect.  But now I don't know which side to use or what manner.  I don't want it hidden on the back, but really don't have it in me right now to create a pouch or anything else.  Maybe I should set it aside for a while.  I prefer the prominent red but also like the subdued taupe, a little more primitive feel.  So as usual, totally confused and will probably change my mind several times.

Enjoy your weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all.

For what it's worth, I like the red best.

Either side will look good but I think I vote for the more red :-)

I love the red.

As a handweaver, it's looking to me like the taupe is the front of the piece, where the rose pattern shows more clearly, and the red is the back. If you put the red side on the outside, be sure to take good look at the threads to make sure there aren't any long passages that could snag.

I like the taupe - more prim looking for sure. A hanging bag with some dried reeds.

The first side is my favorite side.
When hanging in front of a mirrow you can enjoy both sides when it is made into a pouch.
Have a great weekend

Happy Pet Mom's weekend, Marly.
I like the more muted side for your creation. But, it's up to you for sure.

I like the taupe. The red detracts from the stitching.

Hello! I love your blog, and follow every chance I get! If it were my piece, I would go with the red. The piece doesn't get lost in the light background. Maybe a small pillow with balsam filling to make a dream pillow?????

Just my humble opinion, but I think the red shows off the stitching much more prominently. However, with that being said, it looks great on either the red or the taupe. You can't go wrong.
