our daily bread. I switched to low carbs and high protein instead of following Weight Watchers and have lost pounds.
Still eating fruits, veggies, and lots of cottage cheese, eggs, meats, even bacon PLUS my three daily Dove dark chocolates. I found a bread that I think is fabulous when watching carbs and calories. It's very soft and tastes great. I do not like many of the whole wheat varieties that seem to disguise anything between the bread with overpowering bitterness. Two slices are 18 carbs less the 5 gr fiber for a net 13, plus 6 gr of protein!
My favorite treat this past week has been whipped cream cheese and a little jelly over a slice. Yummo. I also stick slices in a low oven to dry for croutons.
This is whole grain and includes whole wheat, bulgur, rye, oats, barley, corn, millet. The two breads I used to make every week were oatmeal honey (L.O.V.E.) and my own dark whole wheat covered with seeds, not bitter at all.
You know you've reached senior status when you purchase more ready made foods that were previously home made foods.
The brat pack finally came in and all were de-flea'd, only one drew my blood. But as usual, most of it is on their hair. Missy is more fuzz than hair and even parting it, her skin is not visible. They are recuperating.
Possible storms again this afternoon.
Working on Polly's big house, changed a color, hope to finish soon.
Thanks for visiting.

As a BREAD LOVER!!!! thanks for the heads up on this brand.
Congratulations on the weight loss! Low carb, high protein and fats is the way to go. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes three years ago and refused to follow the ADA diet which I believe is meant to keep more people in a diabetic state than out one, and did the low carb thing and it has been an absolute blessing. I even eat low carb ice cream and redi-whip and of course, chocolate, so there you go! I even found low carb pasta, pancake mix and all kinds of stuff, so I feel normal eating things that everyone else is eating. Keep up the good work!!
Hi Marly,
I confess I LOVE bread, too!! Thanks for the info on the Sara Lee bread! My absolute FAVORITE bread is Alpine Valley Organic multi grain with omega-3! It is DELICIOUS both regular and toasted!!
Glad the kitties got the fleas meds and you survived!
Enjoy your stitching time!
Heart Hugs~

Thanks for sharing the Sara Lee bread.....I'll be looking for it the next time I'm shopping!
Congrats on the weight loss. The older we get, the harder it is to lose!
You can send some rain my way :)
Interesting ! I don't think we have this "low carb" line of products (or concern) here... I would have given it a try, with all my health troubles (major ones) any thing that could "possibly" help is to try... I'm going to search for infos !
Marly, I love this Sara Lee bread! We have been buying it for a year or so but it's not always easy to find. It seems the stores that do carry it have a limited number of loaves and it sells fast. It is also very good toasted! Almost has a little nutty flavor and a good crunch. I love it toasted with peanut butter and Nutella. Our favorite treat instead of baked goods on Sunday. You can come over and treat my cats now. I've been trying for a week and wasted more then I got on them.
Good for you! Weight loss and flea treatment success! Woo hoo!
Congratulations on your weight loss and treating the brat pack with their flea meds! Also, thank you for the bread recommendation. Polly is looking good.
Thanks Marly, I will definitely be trying that bread!
👍 low carb is a great choice!
Will keep on the look out for Sara Lee bread! Thanks! If your brats only knew the great service you do them. Mine continue to act out a Shakespearean tragedy!!
Congrats on the weight loss! My dad was diabetic and always kept his diabetes very well controlled by following the low carb/high protein diet. Glad to hear you were able to get the cats to come in and get the flea treatment. My neighbor uses Seresto collars for the 6 stray cats that moved into her garage. She says they last for many months and are so much easier than trying to apply the monthly flea treatment.
So happy to hear about your success. Will pass it on !
Your kitties have a beautiful place to recuperate........sorry about your loss of blood.
Have a super week !

I look forward to your posts and enjoy them so much. I would love to have your bread recipes if you are willing to share them. I bake our bread and for the grandsons.
Marley we've been eating this bread for a while and I really like it. How many carbs a day do you allow yourself? I remember doing low carbs years ago but can't remember the details. Blessings, Marlene
I use Berea whole grain, but will give the Sara Lee a try on your recommendation. After noting the adverse effects of anti-flea solutions on pets I sought out a "natural" answer and was told "Dawn" kills fleas with no harm to pets
(remember its use with oil slicked birds?) Well, it works! One treatment bath got
rid of the fleas and I now use it exclusively with nary a flea in sight....
Sounds like you've found a winner, Marly--will definitely look for it. I am a breadhaholic in the worst sense of the word. I would eat homemade bread before chocolate even :)
I love that bread too, been buying it a couple years. I just count my calories and try not to go over 1100 a day and that works for me. But I do take one day off a week and don't count them. I don't pig out too much but I go with a band and we do eat out that day and then we eat again at the jam at night. I will have a desert but it doesn't really hurt me in my losing. I've just started up again, I lost 30# 2 yrs ago and that took about 18 months. Good luck, you can do it! If you give up things you really like you will never stay on it so that is good you are still eating some of your chocolates..
